Dr. Lance Myers
Doctor of Chiropractic
Dr. Lance Myers was born and raised in Flint, MI before moving to Polo, IL during high school. He is a chiropractic physician with an emphasis on sports medicine and exercise rehabilitation. He received degrees in Biomedical Sciences in 2006 and Doctorate of Chiropractic in 2009 from the National University of Health Sciences in Lombard, IL. After graduation, he opened and operated an office in Freeport, IL, and then later relocated to Rockford where he joined Caraotta Chiropractic Orthopedics in March 2013. In August 2017, he and Dr. Nicholas Micka purchased the office from Dr. Jacob Caraotta who began working in short-term medical missions.
Dr. Myers grew up receiving chiropractic care. His mother would often take him and his four brothers to a chiropractor for wellness care. Seeing and receiving the benefits of chiropractic wellness care starting at around the age of 10, he had desired since then to become a chiropractic physician. His desire was to help others understand and benefit from what rehabilitative, corrective and wellness chiropractic care is able to do for patients.
Dr. Myers has advanced training in Olympic-style kinesiology taping and sports medicine. Additionally, he has training in spinal correction and rehabilitation through Chiropractic Biophysics. Dr. Myers is available, as a community service, for lectures on various health topics including spinal care, nutrition and exercise. He is a member of the Christian Chiropractors Association and the International Chiropractic Association.
Dr. Myers stresses the importance of preventative spinal health, nutrition, and wellness. He and his wife Rhonda have 2 daughters, are active in their church and community, and reside in Rockford.

Dr. Nicholas Micka grew up in the Quad Cities. When he was younger, he would see his mom suffer with intense migraines that she would have to take pain killers for, experience minimal relief, and be bed ridden the entire day. It was a regular pattern that he hated to see his mom go through.
At one of her primary Doctor visits, he recommended that she get adjusted, and so, she sought out a Chiropractor. After the first visit, she experienced immediate relief, and she was stunned. This had a major impact on Dr. Micka. He was shocked that by moving a bone out of alignment, you could fix the problem, instead of masking the symptoms with drugs.
He felt called to be a Chiropractor, and so he went on to graduate from Palmer College of Chiropractic in 2010.
After graduating, Dr. Micka practiced in Tuscola Il, where he expanded upon his training in clinical nutrition.
Dr. Micka and his wife, Amber, decided to move to Rockford in 2013 so that he could practice at Caraotta Chiropractic Orthopedics. It was, and still is, a huge honor and privilege for him to work in an environment that loves God and loves people as it’s primary focus.
Dr. Micka loves providing quality Chiropractic care for people, and he is also experienced in other techniques such as Graston and Active Release Techniques. These are advanced muscle releasing techniques that help treat sports and everyday injuries.
He has been using both Chiropractic and muscle release techniques successfully to help people with neck and back disc and arthritic problems, tendonitis, carpal tunnel, shoulder injuries, knee arthritis, plantar fasciitis, and various other conditions.
Dr. Micka has additional training in Chiropractic Biophysics, which enables him to recognize, and correct, specific postural abnormalities and imbalances.
“It is my passion to help people with poor spinal hygiene and postural issues. It can be really painful and can severely limit the quality of life in that person. One of the best parts of my job is seeing people get their life back. Helping others meet their health goals, whether it be walking, running, playing with their kids and grandkids again, or any other goal they may have, is my top priority.”
When he is not in the office, Dr. Micka enjoys spending time outside with his wife and 3 children. He also enjoys weight training, which is a hobby he started in middle school, and is what helped him realize his passion for being healthy and promoting health even at an early age.
Dr. Micka and his wife are active members in their church family, and they support many outreach ministries in the community.

Dr. Andrew Basham
Dr. Basham was born and raised in Wichita, Kansas.
“A major turning point in my life occurred on 5-22-1972 when I found myself wrapped around a telephone pole riding my motorcycle. I was told that year I would never walk on my own two legs again. This was unacceptable to a hard-headed 17-year-old. I have gone through 17 surgeries on my left leg; with the final procedure performed in 1989. I have learned to walk 7 times over a 3 1/2 year span. I have spent my life since then engaging in any sports activity the Doctors said I would never do. I have been a power weight lifter, golfer, tennis player, runner, softball player, martial arts, and anything else I could find to prove the doctors wrong!”
Dr. Basham graduated from Wichita State University, then went on to Cleveland Chiropractic College.
Dr. Basham was a member of the Honor Society while at Wichita State University and achieved Delta Tau Alpha Chiropractic Honor Society while at Cleveland Chiropractic College.
Dr. Basham was President of the Cleveland Chiropractic student body, as well as a member of the “Who’s Who of Colleges and Universities”.
Dr. Basham has a heart for serving those in need. When he’s not treating patients, he enjoys teaching children, as well as serving in various homeless shelters. He has also served as a Flood and Tornado emergency aid relief worker.
Dr. Basham has extensive experience working in multidisciplinary clinics working with M.D.’s, P.T.’s, nurse practitioners and physician assistants. He has guided Medical doctors in surgery, for injection positioning for epidurals, facet, hip, knee, sacroiliac, finger, wrist, and trigger point injections.
He has supervised a Physical Therapy and rehabilitation department of a pain care center for 16 years. He has extensive experience working with; not only the spine; but also work on knees, ankles, wrists, shoulders, and any skeletal condition.
“Because of my active lifestyle, I have had most of the injuries you have, and I know first hand how to help you recover from them. Looking forward to meeting you!”

While attending undergraduate college, Dr. Whitaker majored in nutrition. While attending college, he worked at UPS part time. As a result of working the long hours, he developed severe low back pain. He was referred by co-workers to a local Chiropractor. At the time he had no idea how a Chiropractor could help but he was in so much pain he decided to give it a try. After only a few treatments his back was feeling so much better, which very much intrigued me. Eventually pain-free motion was restored to my back. This was the beginning of my journey to becoming a Chiropractic Physician. I returned to see my Chiropractor for maintenance whenever I felt my back getting stiff. My back stayed pain-free over the years of school and working for UPS.
“One day my Chiropractor recommended that I should attend Chiropractic school and become a Chiropractic Physician. I decided to heed his advice and it was one of the best decisions I made in my life. “
After graduating from UC, he applied and was accepted to attend National University of Health Sciences in Lombard Illinois. During his time at National University he took special interest in the Anatomy lab and became a teaching assistant. Teaching others what he had learned about Human Anatomy was fun and really helped to solidify his knowledge of the human body.
“I still use this information to help identify where nerve entrapment and other dysfunctions occur in the body.”
He has attended many seminars since graduating in 2007. This has helped him develop specific extremity adjusting techniques as well as spine treatments. It is important to address not only the back but sometimes to adjust the hips, knees, ankles, shoulder, elbows, hands, and wrists. He also works hard to identify other causes of pain and manage all patients with a holistic approach. He primarily performs traction (flexion-distraction), kinesio-taping method, and hands on (diversified adjusting) technique. Sometimes it is necessary to recommend lifestyle changes, diet, rehab exercises, order labs, and MRI to effectively balance the body. He can help with a wide range of issues including; headaches, ear infections, food allergy issues, sports injuries, carpal tunnel, TMJ dysfunction, back / neck pain, and more. He has been in practice now for over 12 years.
“My strong Christian faith leads me in caring for all people like family. I humbly work hard to serve The Lord with my talents and strive to be the best at my job. My ultimate goal is to be a blessing to the community I serve. I look forward to meeting you and helping you become the active and mobile person you are meant to be!”
