Upon entering Caraotta Chiropractic Orthopedics, one of our receptionists will welcome you. We will have you sign in, have a seat, and we will bring you patient forms to fill out which provides us with your health history and information on your condition.
Next, you will have a consultation to discuss your health-related problems, concerns, and potential treatment options. This initial visit is designed for our physicians to learn more about you, your condition, and expectations to determine how chiropractic care can meet your goals.
After your consultation, a complete chiropractic examination will be performed. This may include range of motion, flexibility and postural assessment, reflexes, standard neurological, and advanced orthopedic testing for spinal and or extremity problems.
No procedures or testing will be performed in our office without explanation.
Depending on your specific condition, we may take x-rays as well. X-rays help us develop the most effective treatment plan for you, and alert us of any serious spinal or joint conditions. Most people are amazed once they see their x-rays up close. In some cases, they can even identify their problem.
Once the information is collected and examinations are performed, the doctor will put this information together, obtain past medical records (if needed), and/or x-rays and discuss with you how they could help your condition. They will give you a detailed report of all findings and answer any questions you may have.
If your condition requires care with other providers, and or if the doctor feels that you need additional testing such as an MRI, that will be discussed with you as well. Our doctors are licensed to order diagnostic testing in hospitals and clinics nationwide.
Your treatment will be specifically designed to help you obtain maximum health in the shortest time. Part of our recommendations may include spinal and joint manipulation, physiotherapy, exercises, acute phase modalities such as ultrasound and interferential current, kinesio taping, and advanced muscular facilitation / rehabilitation which is often utilized with professional athletes. Treatment is interactive, so you can express concerns about the different styles of treatment anytime.
Preventative Care / Wellness Program
Our goal is to not only get you there ....but keep you there! When most patients come to our office, they are in pain. The short term goal is to get them out of pain. Once they are out of pain, the goal is to keep them that way and to prevent early degenerative arthritic changes.
For example, if a person has their arm in a cast, their muscles will atrophy. Can they feel the atrophy when it is in the cast? No! How do they know it atrophied? Because when they get their arm out of the cast, they have a hard time raising it up. The same thing happens with the spine, if certain parts of the spine is restricted, it will atrophy, but when the cartilage atrophies, it is like wearing down a tread of a tire, it doesn't come back and forms an arthritic joint. If you get in for an occasional adjustment, keep good mobility in the spine, and exercise, you could prevent early degenerative arthritic changes. This is the preventative aspect of our profession!
If you desire, our wellness team will work with you also to create healthy habits and routines for your lifestyle. Every person is unique, therefore everyone requires a customized wellness plan. The purpose of our wellness program is for you to achieve good joint alignment, prevent arthritic changes, have a healthy diet, exercise, and maintain a health active lifestyle.
